A cat and a betta fish have a staring contest.... the fish tries to distract the cat by doing a back-flip, but the kitty is not fooled by the tactic and continues staring. Basic lineart drawn in Gimp on my Fujitsu, cat fur drawn in Photoshop, then all other detail drawn in with pen after printing it out. I love the results, but I might have to rescan it. For the ever-awesome =kaikaku who happens to be both an amazing artist and an incredibly nice person. She was the first to comment on my breaking 5000 page views, so this was her prize. I hope you like it!
Thank you so so so so soooo much! You drew a betta! Squee! They are my most favoritest type of fishie ever! It's awesome, the detail is amazing! I love the cat's expression too. Reminds me of Merlin, and his staring contests with Arthur the betta. XD
The detail in all the backgrounds is really something, it's like there are echoes are all your other work in this piece. And the cube-is pattern next to the cityscape reminds me of Escher's metamorphosis print. ^____^

I'm so glad you like it so much! You made me love those fishies, so I had to draw you one I might have gotten a few things anatomically incorrect, I'm afraid- but I did my best! And the background was so much fun, I actually did it all in one sitting, which I almost never do. Anyway, you're welcome! You're always so nice to me! And yes, it does indeed say 'cat.'

You drew the fish really well, actually--you gave him all his fins. The only thing that might be off is that the ventral fins (the long ones under his chin) maybe should a teeny bit farther back, or maybe just not as broad. He also doesn't have gill plates, but I don't care... it's in your style and it's obviously a betta! It's waaay more anatomically correct than most of the betta drawings I've seen here on DA, artists have a tendency to make bettas look like goldfish for some reason.
I totally love it, thanks so much! I've always loved the complex lines and dots in your style, and I really like that you work in black and white. You draw cats generally, which is a big plus. And now you drew something with a cat AND a fishy! Two of my favorite things in the same picture!
The bold lines along the outside of the fish are great btw, he really stands out.

Score! I did better on it's anatomy than I thought! ...I just realized, I misspelled betta in the description, I'll have to fix that- probably from staring at the intentional misspelling on the picture for so long XD Thank you- the lines/dots/b&w element of my art is something I really enjoy, it always feels soothing to me when I draw the little details, so it makes me happy that you like it too! And I'll have to keep that in mind-I'd love to request a drawing from you, I'll just have to think of what I want you to draw!
